Construction of the new storage facility in Hyllinge progresses as planned

The construction of the new storage facility for Syd Frys, a subsidiary of Tempcon Group, in Hyllinge is progressing as planned. With a scheduled move-in date in June 2025, the expansion is a response to the growing demand for cold and frozen food storage. The new facility, adding 6,378 square metres to the existing site, will double the storage area and increase capacity from 16,000 to an impressive 36,000 pallets.

Key milestones reached in the construction project:

– Sealed roof: The roof is now complete and has passed inspection without any remarks. This marks an important step towards a fully enclosed building, although one gable remains unfinished. This strategic delay allows the shelving units to be easily transported into the building before the final wall is installed, sealing the facility entirely.

– Cement flooring: The cement floor is now fully poured and specifically designed to withstand heavy loads. Mobile shelving units filled with cold and frozen goods will place significant demands on stability and durability, which have been carefully considered throughout the construction process.

– Loading area: Outside the terminal, driveways have been constructed with extra focus on stability and load-bearing capacity. The surface is designed to endure the heavy vehicles that will be loading and unloading at the facility’s five docking ports. The new building will feature two ports dedicated to chilled goods and three for frozen products, offering flexible solutions for various types of food.

Syd Frys’ expansion in Hyllinge is a clear example of the Tempcon family’s commitment to meeting the market’s increasing need for freezer capacity while contributing to a more sustainable logistics chain. The new building will be equipped with solar panels, reducing both operational costs and environmental impact.

Syd Frys has also decided to trial new technology with Coolsaver mineral plates to reduce ice and snow formation in the terminal, improving working conditions and lowering energy consumption.

Built for the Future

The new facility is optimised for handling large storage volumes and also offers tailored solutions for services such as order picking, order management, and customs handling.
