Tempcon Group strives to lead the way in sustainability development

The electrification of the transport sector is a crucial part of the transition toward more sustainable freight transport. Tempcon Group aims to drive this development forward across all its subsidiaries.

Our subsidiary, Tommy Nordberghs Åkeri, is participating in the E-Charge research project, led by Chalmers in Gothenburg—an initiative that takes electrification from theory to reality.

The project examines how different logistics systems are affected by electrification and identifies the most suitable strategies for various transport segments. Through close collaboration with researchers, vehicle manufacturers, and energy companies, it provides deeper insights into how electric trucks can be integrated into today’s transport network.

Now, the research has taken the next step—one of the electric trucks from the E-Charge project, developed in collaboration with Scania, is now in operation at Tommy Nordberghs Åkeri. With a range of 300 kilometers per charge and a gross weight of 64 tons, the vehicle has been tested under real Nordic conditions, demonstrating that electric transport can be both efficient and sustainable, even for heavy-duty operations.

For us at Tempcon, this is not just about testing new technology—it is about actively contributing to the transition facing the entire transport industry. Through E-Charge, we have the opportunity to learn, develop, and inspire others to take the step toward fossil-free transport.

The research project highlights both the opportunities and challenges of electrification, offering valuable insights into how charging infrastructure can be adapted to different transport needs. Through our collaboration in E-Charge, Tempcon and Tommy Nordberghs Åkeri are taking an important step toward the future of sustainable transport.
