Fia Andersson – With a cool passion for logistics, numbers, and winter swimming

Meet Fia Andersson, head of the Shared Service Center (SSC) at Tempcon Group. With an extensive background in logistics and finance, Fia plays a key role in managing payroll, accounting, and controlling for several of the group’s companies. She is also currently leading a major construction project – a new cold storage facility for Syd Frys in Hyllinge. We spoke with Fia about her career journey, challenges, opportunities, and why winter swimming has become a big passion alongside her work.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Tempcon?

My name is Fia Andersson, and I am responsible for the Shared Service Center (SSC) at Tempcon Group. We handle payroll and accounting for all the companies within the group, except for T. Nordberghs Åkeri AB. I also work as a controller for some of the companies, where I am responsible for financial statements, follow-ups, and support in investment decisions.

Right now, I am also managing a construction project to expand the freezing capacity of one of our subsidiaries, Syd Frys in Hyllinge. The project covers everything from the placement of data outlets to the technical solutions for the refrigeration system and financial calculations. It has been an incredibly educational journey – I have learned so much about the construction industry! In addition to this, I also support our subsidiaries with HR matters, such as negotiations.

I understand that you have previously been a CEO within the group. Can you tell us more about that?

That’s correct! I started as CEO of Syd Frys in April 2019. My background is within ICA Gruppen, where I worked for over 30 years in various roles – from controller and transport manager to business developer. I have also worked as a controller at Bergendahls Food AB.

Transitioning from these roles to becoming an external CEO for a family business was both exciting and challenging. When one of our major customers switched suppliers, I quickly had to take on a sales role and find new business opportunities – a valuable experience that gave me new perspectives on the company.

What led you to work in temperature-controlled logistics?

Since I had previously been a transport manager at ICA and worked with several companies that are now part of Tempcon Group, it felt like a natural step. The logistics industry is very dynamic – no two days are the same! That makes the job both exciting and challenging. At SSC, we work to create the right conditions for the group in an industry where margins are tight and decisions need to be well-founded.

What are the biggest challenges and rewards in your daily work?

The biggest challenge is that everyone in the organization has a strong drive to develop and push the business forward. That is an amazing force, but we must prioritize the right initiatives to create the most value for Tempcon as a whole.

The greatest reward is, without a doubt, seeing colleagues grow, take on new challenges, and develop in their roles. It’s truly inspiring!

How would you describe the work culture at Tempcon?

I feel that we have an open and trusting culture where we collaborate and support each other. If someone has a heavy workload, we help out. When we face challenges, we discuss solutions together and move forward as a team. Everyone is driven and genuinely wants to develop the business, which is fantastic to be a part of!

How do you collaborate with colleagues from other parts of the country within the group?

A lot of the collaboration happens via email and phone, but we also aim to visit the different companies within Tempcon Group. It’s important to understand their operations on-site and build close relationships.

What development opportunities do you see for your own career within Tempcon?

Tempcon is a young corporate group where new things are constantly happening. This creates exciting opportunities, both in terms of new roles and projects. If you are interested in developing, there are great chances to take on new challenges! 😊

What are your interests outside of work?

I love winter swimming, spending time with my grandchildren, and exploring new places, both in Sweden and abroad.

Winter swimming is something I highly recommend everyone to try! First, you take a dip in the sea, then enjoy a sauna for 20 minutes, and repeat the process at least three times. Afterwards, you feel like a completely new person – refreshed, energized, and full of life. It’s amazing!
